Workbefy is an app that connects people who need a service (customers) with nearby technicians and professionals (providers). This policy explains what data we use, why, and the control you have over it. Your data controller is WORKBEFY SRL, in the Dominican Republic ("Workbefy" or "we").
1. Data we use
From every user
- Phone number: to create your account and sign in with an SMS code.
- Name and photo (the photo is optional), country and language.
- Email: optional in your profile and required if you request verification as a provider or company. We use it to tell you whether your verification was approved or rejected and to help you. It is not public: only you and the Workbefy team can see it.
- Location: your phone's location if you allow it, or the neighborhood you type. It is used to find providers and jobs nearby. We do not track your location in the background, unless you are a provider and tap I'm on my way: then your customer sees your location in real time, also with the app in the background, until you tap I'm here, stop sharing or 3 hours pass. We only keep the last position, not the route, and only that customer can see it.
- Messages you send in the chat, with the photos and locations you share.
- Chat videos: in the chat you can send photos and short videos (up to 1 minute). Only you and the person you are talking to can see them, and they are deleted when you delete your account.
- Online and typing: while you have Workbefy open, the people you talk to see that you are "Online" or when you last used it, and they see "Typing…" while you write in their chat. We do not store what you type until you send it.
- Jobs you post, with their description, photos, area and budget.
- Reviews and reports you write.
- Activity in the app: which profiles you visit and which providers you contact, for provider stats and to keep the app safe.
- Device identifiers to send you notifications.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and app usage data, without your messages, to fix errors.
Also from providers
- Public profile data: business name, description, categories, specialties, years of experience, starting price, work area and radius, work photos, WhatsApp (optional) and availability.
- Verification documents: to verify your identity we use Didit, a specialized service. On Didit's page you take photos of your ID document and a selfie with a liveness check. Didit compares your face with the one on the document (biometric data) and tells us whether the verification was approved, without sending us those images. If your trade requires it, you upload a good-conduct certificate to Workbefy, and only you and the team reviewing your application can see it. They are never shown on your profile.
- Plan and subscription: which plan you have, when it ends and whether it renews. Payment is processed by Google Play, the App Store or, on the web, Paddle: we never see your card.
Also from companies
- Company details: name, tax ID (RNC, RFC, EIN…), city and description, to verify the company before it posts openings.
- Openings and candidates: the openings it posts and the providers who apply, with the message they write.
2. Why we use it
- To provide the service: your account, nearby search, chat, jobs, reviews and notifications.
- To verify providers before they appear in searches.
- To protect users: review reports, warn when someone asks for payment in advance and suspend accounts that break the terms.
- To activate the plan a provider buys and remind them before it ends.
- To set your account's country: when you sign up, from your phone number; afterwards, from your location when you are in another country where Workbefy works.
- To keep a record that you accepted the Terms and this Policy (version, date, country and language).
- To fix errors and improve the app.
We use your data because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for, because you consent (for example, to location or notifications, which you can turn off in your phone settings), or because of our legitimate interest in keeping the app safe.
3. What other people see
- If you are an approved provider, any user can see your public profile, rating and reviews. Customers also see your area, how far you are and your pin on the results map: it is the location you registered as your work base, which can be a nearby reference and not necessarily your home.
- If you are a customer and visit a profile, the provider sees that they had a visit. If they have a paid plan, they also see your short name (for example, "María S.") and your neighborhood.
- Your reviews are published with your short name.
- In the chat, the other person sees your name, your photo and what you send.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell or rent your data. We only share it with these service providers that work for us, and only what is needed for the app to work:
| Service | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Google LLC) | Accounts, database, files, notifications, crash reports and app usage statistics (Google Analytics for Firebase, without your name, phone number or messages). |
| Didit | Verifying providers' identity. It receives the photos of the document and the selfie, and processes the face comparison under its own privacy policy. It only sends us the result. |
| Resend | Sending you the email with your verification result. It receives your email address, your name and the message. |
| Google Maps | Showing the map and calculating distances. |
| Google Play, Apple App Store and Paddle | Charging provider subscriptions (Paddle, when you pay on the web; it acts as a reseller and receives the payment details you give it). |
| RevenueCat | Knowing which plan each provider bought. It receives your user ID and purchase data, not your name or phone number. |
| Anthropic | Answering in the in-app assistant, if you use it. It receives what you write, without your name or phone number. |
These services may store data outside the Dominican Republic, mainly in the United States, with their own security measures. We may also disclose data when required by law.
5. How long we keep it
As long as you have an account. If you delete it, we delete your profile, photos, jobs, conversations, notifications and, if you are a provider, your verification documents. Your reviews stay, but under the name "Deleted user". We keep the reason you left, if you wrote one, without your personal data. Moderation records (for example, a suspension) may be kept without your name or phone number to prevent fraud. Backups are deleted automatically within 30 days. Didit keeps the verification images under its own policy. When you delete your account, we delete your verification result in Workbefy.
6. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, and object to a specific use. You can do most of this yourself in the app: edit your profile, turn off permissions in your phone settings or delete your account. For anything else, write to us at the email below and include your account's phone number, and we will reply within 30 days.
7. Security
Communications are encrypted. Access to data is limited by rules that let each person see only what is theirs, and verification documents are only visible to their owner and the review team. No system is perfect: if we detect a problem that affects you, we will let you know.
8. Minors
Workbefy is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly create accounts for minors. If you believe a minor has an account, tell us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
If we change this policy in an important way, we will notify you in the app before the change applies.
